In Spirit and Truth
While popular trends come and go, God continues to seek those who will worship him “in spirit and truth” (John 4:24). This kind of worship is quite different to what a lot of people are used to today.
In fact, because it is a spiritual experience, and such things must be “spiritually discerned” (1 Cor 2:14), the average person doesn’t appreciate it at all. It’s not a concert, there’s no razzle-dazzle, it’s not even entertaining. But it is what God wants, and that’s what worship must centre upon: what God wants, not just what’s popular.
That makes for a very different experience to the common varieties – an experience Jesus wants us to have. Of course, being “different” goes with being a holy people. Let’s “worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness”! (Psalm 29:2)
